How To Do a Half-Double Crochet

This tutorial is working on the assumption that you have already learned how to do a slip knot and a chain, if you haven’t you can check out this tutorial to start from there!

If you’ve worked through a double crochet stitch before, you’ll understand this with ease. A half-double crochet is done by yarning over, pulling up a loop, then yarning over and pulling through all three of the loops on your hook.

To start we’ll have our chain and we’ll use our hook and insert it into the chain, then you’ll yarn over to wrap the yarn slightly around the hook to pull it through the stitch where you inserted your hook.

You’ll then have three loops on your hook and you’ll want to yarn over again and pull through all three loops on the hook.

And that’s how you do a half-double crochet!
